"Krekenlandschap" (Landscape of Creeks) and "Toevluchtsoord" (Sanctuary) (2022)
Illustratie, gemaakt ter gelegenheid van een avond van Literair Café de Geestgronden,
tijdens de n8vdn8 in Middelburg, bij het gedicht Taalgespletter, van Aukje-Tjitske.
Haar gedicht staat hieronder:
Taalgespletter
Het regent rijmelstelen
Het klinkelt in de goot
Kom je met me spelen?
Wil je vliegen met mijn boot?
Normaal moet je nu slapen
Maar ik letterpret je mee
Let niet op het woordgeklater
Daarvan raak je niet doorweekt
Nu denk je, het is donker
Maar niets is minder waar
Als je wilt, zie je geflonker
van zinnenschitteraars
Stap in de boot, hij vleugelt
Zie je hoe uil die muis bevrijdt?
Wat zeg je, hem oppeuzelt?
Welnee, het is maar hoe je het bekijkt
Spreid je armen heel wijd uit
Dan gaan we sneller door de lucht
Hoor je alinea’s tjilpen in de struik,
het fantasoeven van onze vlucht?
Kijk hoe vos en die vier kippen
samen kransen in het gras,
van uitroeptekens smikkelen
Wacht, dacht je dat het anders was?
Hou je vast, ik geef de boot een dicht
Ik volg de vleermuis en de motten
Ook al wordt het bijna licht,
ze spelen tikkertje en ravotten
Voor ons is het alweer tijd
om de daling in te zetten
Wil je meer gekke taligheid,

"Krekenlandschap" (Landscape of Creeks) and "Toevluchtsoord" (Sanctuary) (2022)
For a group exhibition during the Hoogtij Festival in Groede, The Netherlands, I made two drawings, each inspired by a poem by Groede based poets Dinie Sophie Fintelman, and Tijs van Bragt.
The original works were exhibited in Theo Jordans' studio.
Reproductions of all the works in the group show were simultaneously shown outside, attached to lamp posts in the Schuitvlotstraat and on the Markt, under the title: "Boulevard van de Verbeelding" (Boulevard of the Imagination).
Krekenlandschap (Landscape of Creeks)
Since the title of Dinie Sophie Fintelman's poem read: "Vandaag ben ik niet de zee" (Today I am not the sea), I chose to draw the landscape of the Drowned Land of Saeftinghe, as seen from above. Not the sea.

Toevluchtsoord (Sanctuary)
There were several words in Tijs van Bragt's poem that inspired me to this drawing: "ark", "poplar", and "creek". One might expect a different outcome when reading the poem, but then, it's not a literal illustration.

Dream Drawings Project: A Dream A Day / A Drawing A Day
(A daily project of dream-inspired drawings)
Because of my experiences with creative dreamwork, I know how the special feeling that creating something from your dreams can bring. So it was an easy decision to make a series of drawings that were inspired by my dreams: one every day.
I made this series of drawings from January 1, 2019 at home at my kitchen table, in order to maintain a creative flow, while looking for a new workspace to continue my larger projects.
In May of the same year it became increasingly difficult to continue this routine, and gradually it slowed down, until it stopped. But a series of more than 100 drawings, is still a series of more than 100 drawings.
